Carnival Cruise Line Tests My Awesome Bar Program

Carnival Cruise Line is offering a new kind of drinks package onboard on a test-run basis.

Carnival Victory is the first ship in the fleet trying out the new approach. Guests onboard aged 21 and over can pay $42.95 a day plus an automatic gratuity charge of 15% for wine, spirits, frozen alcohol free cocktails and beer, however the drinks package dubbed “My Awesome Bar Program” only applies in full to drinks that cost $10 or less. Anything over the $10 mark though will see the guest receive a 25% discount.

The program launched on August 5th but Carnival have not commented whether or not the package will be rolled out onto other ships in the fleet or whether it will become a permanent fixture.

It sounds great however there is one downside. If one person in a stateroom buys the package then so must the other guests over the age of 21 in the same stateroom.

Carnival is not the only cruise line to be testing these kinds of packages. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises and MSC Cruises all also offer similar style drinks packages that so far seem to have been met with enthusiasm by guests.
