Cruise Ships Delayed To Avoid Tropical Storm Isaac

Tropical storm Isaac is causing chaos for cruise travellers as several ships are delayed.

Ships that were due to return to Florida on Sunday and early yesterday have had to remain at sea since the port of Miami closed late Saturday due to Tropical Storm Isaac.

Among those affected are the Carnival Valor, Carnival Imagination, Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas and Allure of the Seas and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Sky.

The delays will of course affect other sailings. Allure of the Seas is already running two days behind schedule and instead of her next cruise being a seven-night Western Caribbean itinerary it will instead now be a five-night cruise and will skip Falmouth and Labadee.

Carnival Imagination, Majesty of the Seas and Norwegian Sky thus far have no itinerary changes, but they will run several hours later than scheduled.

Isaac has been causing chaos since landing in the Caribbean a week ago. Numerous cruise ships have had to alter courses in order to avoid the storm including Carnival Legend, Monarch of the Seas, Norwegian Gem and Carnival Destiny.

Isaac is expected to grow in strength over the next 24 hours; New Orleans has levy warnings out as the storm makes its way towards the Gulf of Mexico.
