Cunard Cruise Line has cancelled it’s plans for the Queen Elizabeth to pay tribute to Sir Jimmy Savile.
Sir Jimmy Savile travelled onboard Queen Elizabeth on her maiden voyage just weeks before his death.
The luxurious vessel had been scheduled to sail past Scarborough where he is buried on August 1st 2013.
Savile, who has been at the centre of numerous allegations of child abuse, was a frequent traveller with Cunard.
Cunard said it would not be "appropriate" for the planned sail past to go ahead.
Sir Jimmy Savile died at the age of 84 on October 29 2011.
The allegations he had abused under-age girls were first aired in an ITV documentary on 3 October and since then many more victims have come forward and contacted police.
Best known for his television programme 'Jim'll Fix It,' Savile has been the subject of numerous allegations of child abuse following the airing of an ITV documentary on October 3 of this year.
The Metropolitan Police is now leading an inquiry into the abuse claims and is pursuing 120 separate lines of inquiry.
According to a report in The Mirror newspaper, Savile was kicked off P&O's Canberra in Gibraltar by the captain who heard claims he abused a 14-year-old girl. Savile had enjoyed complimentary cruises with both P&O and Cunard.
