Carnival Cruise Lines has said that it intends to double UK passenger numbers this year. Carnival chief executive Gerry Cahill says the cruiseline's "fun" ships are ideal for the UK market. From 2009 Carnival plans to double the number of UK based sailings when 3,000 passenger Liberty home-bases in Dover. It will operate round trips from Dover to the Baltics from May 9th until August 25th 2009. Carnival Splendor was named by its new godmother Myleene Klass the classical musician, in front of a 450-strong UK crowd in Dover earlier this month.
