Princess cruises – pick a ship in the Grand class and you’ve got two sun deck areas – Calypso and Neptune, to choose from, and on Crown and Emerald, you can opt for the Sanctuary: an adult only oasis with personalised service, mini-spa treatments and drinks and snacks delivered to you. 2. Royal Caribbean’s Freedom class ships have the kids-only H2O Zone, an amazing water park that will keep those from four to sixteen busy and out of your hair all day. The Solarium pool is relaxing, while the Sports Pool is an activity packed zone for the athletic types and there’s always FlowRider to get your adrenaline flowing. 3. Ventura, from P&O is in a class of her own, with three pool areas: the Beachcomber has a skydome, the Laguna is quieter and more adult in nature and the Terrace is partly built into the spa area and has a current that you can swim against, or with, depending how hard you want to work 4. Celebrity ships are pool based fun, there’s always butlers by the main pool with icy towels and frozen treats to tease your taste buds, and there will be fashion shows, games, and all kinds of activity. On the top deck of some ships: Millennium, Infinity, Summit and Constellation you can find the topless sunbathing area for those who hate having strap-marks and the thalassotherapy pools in the AquaSpa area are always quiet and peaceful.
