Top cruise regions compared

Cruises are compartmentalised into regions and some are hot while others are not. This year, the hot cruise regions are close to home, wherever home may be. So red-hot cruises for Americans and Canadians are those taking hin Bermuda, the Caribbean, and the Mexican Riviera while for Brits and Europeans, the popular regions are, unsurprisingly Mediterranean and Fjord cruises. Currently warm but moving into the very hot category are Baltic cruises, because they tend to cost so much less for excursions and other treats that the pricey Scandinavian visits.

What’s chilly in popularity terms is what used to be called exotic cruising to locations like Asia, South America and Australia and New Zealand. This is partly because such cruises cost more to connect to, with airfare and overnight stays and partly because the difficulty of getting there means that the cruises tend to be longer than seven days, which makes them proportionally more expensive.
