P&O Aussie wine list upgrade

P&O Cruises has announced it will only sell Australian (with a few New Zealand vintages) on its two Australia home-ported ships: Sydney-based Pacific Dawn and Brisbane-based Pacific Sun (yes, the one that was in the storm!) P&O says that there is now such a range of variety and quality in Australian wines that foreign varieties are no longer needed to achieve a balanced wine list and that the move is in part a response to consumer demand. The cruise line toured 39 vineyards in Australia and New Zealand to compile its new wine list and a P&O spokesman said passengers will pay slightly more on average with the new wine list because it contains more premium wines. The upgraded wine list accompanies an extensive dining upgrade, and will be complemented, on selected cruises, by wine-tasting sessions and lectures.
