Packing tips for cruise passengers

In a recent survey conducted by the Post Office, 37% of holidaymakers admit to being disorganised packers, with women finding it harder to pack than men but that could be because over 30% of women pack for their husbands as well as themselves. Here are some tips to help you improve your packing: 1. It doesn’t matter if you fold your clothes or roll them, or whether you wrap them or not. The two key things are not to bundle them (don’t screw them in a ball to fit a space in your case) and not to over or under pack. Over packed clothes will be creased by compression and under packed clothes will be creased by moving around. The key tests are to make sure you can close the lid without having to squash anything down (over packing) and without hearing anything move around as you turn the case from side to side (under packing) 2. The website www.butlerbureau.com contains videos that show you how to fold suits, T-shirts and how to pack the perfect suitcase 3. It’s always claimed that creases will drop out if you hang the items in a steamy bathroom, but most of us don’t have the patience and don’t like having a steamy cabin (that’s a steamy bathroom for at least two hours and then another four for the creases to drop) but if you’re going to try it, make sure that once the garment is slightly damp you shake it to make the creases drop before hanging it up again 4. A travel iron is a better idea, they are small and light and as long as you check with your cruise line what the voltage is, you will find that packing an iron means you can freshen up your clothing without having to send it to the laundry.
