What is an all - inclusive cruise?

The first cruises were always all-inclusive, but increasingly there are optional (or not so optional, like meals on easyCruise) extras attached to a cruise, ranging from shore trips through to extra courses or special treats at dinner. And some all-inclusive cruises include tips, but not soft drinks, while others include soft drinks, but not room service … it’s important to find out exactly what is included in each cruise operator’s definition of ‘all inclusive’. The advantage of an all-inclusive cruise is that you know exactly what you’re going to spend, and don’t get nasty surprises when you get the bill at the end of your stay. Norwegian Cruise Lines include accommodation, meals and entertainment on board ship, but some of their speciality restaurants have cover charges. Alcoholic and soft drinks, spa treatments, indoor pool relaxation areas, some classes, laundry, internet access and shore trips are not included. Thomson also offers all-inclusive cruising, but this doesn’t include tips, spa treatments or alcoholic drinks, while Costa Cruises does include tips but not soft drinks! Read the small print to be very sure that you know which things you still have to pay for.
