Hurricane cruise news

The fast-forming and fast-moving storm was given hurricane status on Tuesday and today has driven RCI to divert Mariner of the Seas from the Western to the eastern Caribbean – she’s going to spend an extra day at sea, changing course to visit St Thomas and St Maarten, rather than her planned port calls of Haiti, Jamaica, the Caymans and Mexico. Meanwhile, Carnival is reshaping the itinerary of next week’s sailing for Carnival Conquest to avoid the expected path of Hurricane Gustav. She’ll visit Progreso, Mexico instead of Montego Bay, Jamaica, and reverse her visits to Grand Cayman and Cozumel.
