Comparing the lastest cruise ship spas

No cruise ship is complete without a spa these days, and most people’s understanding of spa treatments goes beyond the simple massage or pedicure to body and image-altering treatments and cruise lines are pushing aspect of their offerings to entice passengers.

Two of the newest spas to hit the seas, for example, are Carnival Dream’s spa and the spa on Seabourn Odyssey and they rack up quite similarly in comparison. The Cloud 9 Spa on Dream has 17 treatment rooms, a thalassotherapy pool with heated ionised water and pulsating water jets, plus what’s called a ‘thermal suite’ with four wet and dry heat therapy chambers to cleanse, tone and purify the body. Carnival passengers who stay in one of the 65 special spa suites get several benefits such free access to spa facilities.

Seabourn’s new ship Odyssey also has special Spa Villas you can book for half a day. The spa itself is 11,400 square feet and offer SkinCeuticals, an award-winning skincare line as well as a hydropool, a Kinesis wall, two herbal steam rooms and the Spa Villas complete with whirlpools big enough for two, private balconies for sunbathing, double daybeds and a full living room.

Both spas offer priority and special complimentary treatments to their spa suite passengers so if you’re thinking of booking a cruise, and a spa is important to you, a suite upgrade might be idea.
