Repositioning cruises are an autumn bargain

You can find a double bargain because as well as making a last minute booking and saving money that way, ships are getting ready to reposition to new home ports for the autumn and winter. This means that liners that were cruising from Vancouver and Seattle to Alaska all summer are now heading to winter in such home ports as the Mexican Riviera, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. In the Atlantic, some ships stay in Europe for the winter, but most are heading back to the east coast of the United States for Caribbean cruises. And because many of these repositioning cruises last longer than seven days, with very few port visits, they offer good value for money – sometimes you get discounts on spa treatments and exercise classes too, to compensate for the lack of port calls.
