Cruise Operator Carnival Australia estimates Queensland is about to experience its largest cruise season, with the company preparing to convey 76,000 passengers to visit the State in the next six months. Carnival Australia say the figure is a 40% increase compared to last year. They have ten ships, Cunard Line, Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises Australia and P&O Cruises UK, making around 90 calls to Queensland ports between now and April and that the visitors would bring more than $50 million Aus to the Queensland economy.
In addition, more than 30 cruise ships are expected to visit Cairns Seaport in the next twelve months bringing a further 13,000 visitors into the region.
