One Night Mini-Cruise to Newcastle from Rosyth
Date: 22 Aug 2024
Duration: 1 nights
Ship: Balmoral
Line: Fred Olsen Cruises
Vancouver has been facing some rough weather for quite some time. Major cruise lines have been slashing their sailings from the area. Two of the major cruise lines Holland America Line and Princess Cruises have decided to reduce the number of sailings from Vancouver.
This announcement means that the total numbers of slashed sailings have now reached 62. This means that the city is set to lose a total of 260,000 tourists.
This move, from two of the biggest two luxury cruises will mean a $120 million loss for the Tourism Vancouver industry group.
The expected alternative for the cancelled sailings is to be Seattle. The reason for this is that Seattle is considered to be an easier as well as cheaper access point for the ships.
The company has cited the economic conditions as the reason behind the drastic decisions in deploying these vessels. The decision is being witnessed, as a step to attract passengers, so that the cruises are full when the vessels leave for cruises holidays.
The Vancouver Tourism officials on the other hand are counting on the 2010 Olympic Games as a prospective attraction for the cruise lines.
