Major cruise lines have been cutting down their cruises from Alaska. Carnival Corporation, Princess and Holland America, are some of the major companies who have announced a cut back in their cruises from Alaska, in the year 2010.
These companies making the cutbacks have always been the major operators on the Alaska route.
Another major company, Royal Caribbean has also announced that it would also be making some changes to their itineraries in 2010 Alaska.
The Princess cruise line has announced a 16 percent cut back in their Alaska itineraries that amounts to a total of 48,000 passengers. It will be shortly decreasing its eight ships fleet to a total of seven ships in the year, 2010.
The cruise line has stated that its Star Princess cruise will not return to Alaska. Also it plans to shift the Sapphire Princess to Seattle.
The Holland America cruise line is also planning to follow a similar plan. It is planning to decrease the number of cruises, operating in Gulf of Alaska. It will also decrease the number of its ships in the area from three to two. Also the company desires to make four of its cruise ships sail from Seattle.
