Mexican Cruise Ports compared

If your cruise takes in a Mexican port or two, it’s really worth finding out what each port has to offer as there can be wide varieties in port calls and excursions which can make a real difference to your enjoyment of the cruise. Here are a few of the less well known.

La Paz is a small, laid-back city on the Sea of Cortez. It’s famous for its simple pleasures such as the beaches of the Pichilingue Peninsula and a favourite excursion from this port is snorkelling with sea lions.

Cabo San Lucas is a resort that offers good water sports and activities, and is famous for its sport-fishing excursions. Another popular cruise excursion from this port is to take a carriage ride around the town.

Loreto is becoming an increasingly popular port call – it was one of the earliest European settlements, and has some gorgeous architecture as well as offering the opportunity to snorkel the lagoons of Isla Coronados. Look out for the walking tours run by many cruise lines which help you explore the prettiest parts of the port.
