Protest by Passengers on the board of P&O Cruise

P&O Cruises' Aurora has been reported to have faced revolt by disgruntled passengers abroad the ship’s world cruise. The Guardian and other important dailies in the UK have reported that nearly 600 passengers on the board formed ‘passenger committee’ and have threatened a mutiny over the cancellation of several ports due to mechanical defaults in the ship. But nothing has been yet confirmed from the Cruise’s forums. However there are reports from other sources too that a passenger committee was formed after a meeting in which compensation packages are offered by the P&O.

Cruise Critic in the mid of march reported that there was damaged thrust that led the 76,000 ton, 2,0000 passenger carrier lack in cruising speed. Aurora lost its maximum speed level and this prompted the cruise line to cancel calls in ports like Napier, Wellington, Bay of Islands, Papeete and Moorea. The passengers had to relax six days in Auckland port while the ship was repaired. Missing such exclusive ports in world cruise is really frustrating and depressing. Though P&O have compensated every passenger £500 for their hassles and provided them prorated refund equal to four days of cruise fares. The line also offered free sight seeing, shuttle service and other services to passengers when the ship was stuck in Auckland.
