The £19 million terminal was opened on Saturday 9 May and will be used primarily by Cunard, Ocean Village, P&O cruises and Princess Cruises. The terminal was ‘christened’ by the arrival of P&O’s Oceana but the low key first day was a deliberate strategy to ensure that the terminal didn’t experience any of the negative publicity that might result from teething pains, as was so widely reported, for example, on the opening of Heathrow’s Terminal 5
The new terminal embarks or disembarks up to 4,000 passengers daily and includes state of the art check-in facilities, over 300 short-stay parking spots and acres (literally) of long-stay parking, and a dedicated taxi rank for passengers arriving or leaving on foot.
