Thomson Cruises has said that it will return to cruise holidays departing from the UK when it gets a new ship. The statement comes as Calypso, which has been sailing as an adults-only cruise ship for two years, retires from the Thomson fleet after a series of fly-cruises from its homeport in Greece.
In 2010, Thomson Celebration will be replace Calypso in sailing the eastern Mediterranean sailing out of Marmaris in Turkey, which is a new port for Thomson Cruises. However the line used to sail out of Harwich and appears to be planning a return to the non-fly cruise market, possibly as a result of passenger concerns about their carbon footprints.
