According to the Passenger Shipping Association – PSA – the cruise holiday has become a much more mainstream choice than was previously considered true. The idea that cruises were something that people only took once they’d retired, or perhaps as part of a wedding celebration, is no longer accurate a survey of theirs reveals. One and a half million people took cruises in 2008 which is an 11% increase on 2007.
Instead, partly because the price of cruises has dropped, relative to other areas of expenditure, in the current recession, they have become a popular holiday choice with people who are shopping around for the best-value holiday this summer. Popular cruises are the Mediterranean and Nordic cruises, the latter because it can be much cheaper to visit this beautiful but expensive region by ship, as hotel prices are astronomical.
