The Australian government has decided to improve the moorings at Christmas Island, which means that when the new facilities are complete, cruise ships will be able to dock there.
The first planned visitor will be the P&O cruise liner Pacific Sun and it is planned that it will visit Christmas Island on December 23rd 2010, just in time for Christmas! There will be four visits by the ship to the island between December and February 2011. The island has many unique features, including the often filmed red crab migration every year and it is likely to become a popular cruise ship destination.
