From May 2010, Thomson Celebration will be based in Marmaris, Turkey. The 1,250 passenger cruise vessel has been located at this port because it has an ideal proximity to both the Aegean and Mediterranean as well as being close to major resorts for stay-cruise holiday and to Dalaman airport for fly-cruise passengers. Thomson Celebration as a roster of 1250 passengers and 520 crew, with nine decks, 3 restaurants and two pools.
Obviously the ship will sail many Turkish and Greek itineraries and key ports for this region will be standard port calls such as Istanbul, Santorini, Mykonos and Piraeus (for Athens) as well as Bodrum. This key port is a gem for cruise visitors – one of Seven Wonders of the World, The Mausoleum of Mausolus, was once to be found there, and the fifteenth century Crusader castle still looms over the harbour, and a visit to its romantic grounds also includes a fascinating Museum of Underwater Archaeology. There will also be the opportunity to visit Egypt and a Holy Land cruise will take in Alexandria and Ashdod in Israel, where passengers will be able to take trips out to Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
