Cunard new cruise ship damaged

Cunard is deciding whether to take legal action, this week, against the Maltese port authorities after an incident on Wednesday.

The luxurious Queen Victoria hit the quay at Valletta Waterfront. She crashed as she tried to berth in Malta, the 96000 tonne cruise ship which cost over £300 million crashed into the concrete quay.

Passengers were horrified as the stern of the ship reversed before hitting the dockside. It has been suggested that the ship’s throttle suffered temporary failure.

One on-looker said “We could see what was going to happen before it did, we couldn’t believe it. Seeing this huge ship hit the dock was incredible”. The cruise liner left the harbour early on Thursday after repairs were made to the damaged stern overnight. Cunard said that it was too early to say whether they will be taking legal action, investigations are taking place…
