Cruise passengers to treble

The number of cruise passengers from the UK could treble by 2013. A third of consumers surveyed in a recent study said they would consider taking a cruise in the next five years, although only 11% had taken a cruise in he previous five. The Mediterranean remains the most popular destination, and is set to grow as cruise ships launch winter itineraries across that region, including both weekend cruises for those seeking a boost of out of season sunshine, and longer cruises for retired folk who want to get away from cold winters at home.. The research, conducted by Trip Vision at the end of 2007, found that facilities on board were the most important factor when choosing a cruise ship, closely followed by ports of call.
