A regal farewell to the QE2

The Queen will visit Southampton on Monday to bid farewell to the world's most famous liner. While on board, the Queen will unveil a new painting of QE2 and will meet serving crew members who volunteered to stay with QE2 when she was used as a troop ship during the Falklands War in 1982, together with a number of retired Cunard masters. Her visit will begin in the liner's wardroom where she will meet the liner's officers and be invited to sign the visitors' book, a symbolic moment as hers was the first signature to enter the visitor log and will also be the last. After a final trip, the venerable liner will travel to Dubai to become a floating hotel. Click on story headline to see image.
