Cruise prices soar through surcharges

Holiday makers are paying up to £70 more for their holidays as a result of rising fuel costs and increased surcharges. How do the cruise lines stack up?

• Royal Caribbean just this week increased its fuel supplement from £2.50 per day to £4 without a cut off • P&O Cruises introduced a surcharge right back at the beginning of the year, meaning passengers pay £2.50 a day, up to a maximum of £35 for 14 nights • Fred Olsen has also raised its fee to £3.50 per person per day, with a maximum surcharge of £70 per cruise • Norwegian Cruise Line charges an extra £4.50 per person per day without a maximum surcharge cut off.
