Costa and Celebrity cruise spas compared

Celebrity Cruises' offers its passengers the AquaSpa which has a range of treatments from the standard massages, mud wraps and manicures, through to a a thalassotherapy pool to iron out tired muscles. Thalasso comes from the Greek word for sea – it relates to a range of treatments that use sea products such as seawater and seaweed to tone, moisturise and revitalise the body and skin, and, in many cases, to improve circulation. There’s also a Persian Garden with warm marble loungers to laze on.

Costa, on the other hand has a Samsara Spa on Costa Concordia and Costa Serena. It’s a split level spa, with a wonderful tepidarium – these originated in ancient Rome’s celebrated bath houses, and tepidarium means warm room. There’s also a Turkish bath, a rock sauna and thalassotherapy pool downstairs and therapists upstairs. There’s also a Samsara suite, which comes with free treatments and a thermal suite pass.
