Hawaii destination review

Hawaii cruises depart from numerous seaports along the west coast of North America such as Vancouver, Seattle and San Diego, meaning most UK travellers have a fly-cruise experience although some are now opting to extend their holidays to make it a fly-drive-cruise, taking in some of the USA as well as cruising to Hawaii.

These cruises tend to be longer holidays anyway, anything from 15 to 18 days, and including port calls in Hawaii and one or two other islands.

Aside from lazing on the pool deck on sea days and enjoying the beaches of Hawaii on port days, there are some fascinating excursions offered by most lines. On Hawaii (known as the Big Island) you can trek up the dormant volcanoes of Mauna Kea or the smaller Kilauea crater or do the Circle of Fire tour by helicopter. You can also learn the history of Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu, which also offers the chance to visit city of Honolulu, or there are whale watching day trips based around Lanai Island.
