More than 1,800 guests have been invited to attend the star-studded gala naming of the MSC Poesia at the Port of Dover on Saturday, with the christening honour going to Sophia Loren.
The new cruise liner will arrive in Dover at midday on Friday, and the christening will take place just before midnight on Saturday, and it’s the first time that an MSC liner has been christened outside Italy.
Poets are invited to put pen to enter a competition organised in honour of the new ship, that name of which, Poesia, is Italian for poetry. Simply write a poem - in any style but no longer than three verses - about anything you feel passionate about. The winner will be chosen by Poet Laureate Andrew Motion and receive two tickets for a week-long cruise holiday on the MSC Poesia’s sister ship, MSC Orchestra.
