The new cruise liner MSC Poesia was launched in a star-studded ceremony at the port of Dover with Prince and Princess Michael, Andrea Bocelli and KT Tunstall in attendance.
The naming ceremony was performed at the stroke of midnight on 5th April by Italian legend Sophia Loren. MSC said that they wanted to offer a unique launching ceremony, something never seen before – and they certainly delivered on their promise. In addition to the live music, American artist Brian Olsen, famous for his portraits of musicians, painted a life size portrait of Sophia Loren live on stage.
MSC Poesia has now begun her inaugural cruise calling at Cork, Lisbon, Barcelona, Rome, Naples, Messina and Dubrovnik before arriving in her home port of Venice on 19 April from where she will depart every Saturday for week long cruises visiting popular cruise destinations in Greece, Turkey and Croatia.
