Autumn repositioning cruises

Prices for the autumn repositioning cruises are starting to appear and daily rates seem to be up from this spring’s repositionings, which is not surprising given the hike in fuel prices. On the mass-market lines, only a few trips show rates starting at less than £40 per person per day for an inside cabin which was the standard for last year’s autumn offerings. Most, in fact are around £50. As most big cruise lines will offer cheap one-way air flight home, these cruises can be a real bargain. Repositioning cruises run from late August through to late November and the best deals can usually be found in October and November. Some itineraries start in the Mediterranean while others are sailing from Southampton and a few from Baltic ports. You can travel to many ‘winter ports’ such as New York and Florida, but you’ll find they have more sea days and less port calls than standard cruises.
