There are specialist lines such as Atlantis, which offer gay and lesbian cruises on whole ship charters, or alternatively, some gay and lesbian groups such as Cruise Freeks, aren’t travel specialists but work through an agent to make a whole ship charter. If you want to travel with non gay passengers (and why not?) you’ll certainly find that there’s no problem with some lines, which are just naturally gay and lesbian friendly, such as NCL and Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Costa, all of which offer a welcome that is equal to anything. Some lines, such as Fred Olsen, do seem occasionally to have problems in this regard, not through discrimination, but simply through the operation of more restrictive dining policies on formal nights. So, for example, a gay couple were somewhat surprised to find that on formal night they had been moved from their regular table to another, where two elderly sisters were seated, so that the table as a whole could be seated ‘male-female, male-female’!
