Oasis Microclimate

Passengers on the 220,000 tonne Oasis of the Seas will experience the ship’s own microclimate. In the Deck 8 area called Central Park, there will be tropical foliage including shrubs and trees that will rise to two and a half metres tall, including Black Olive, Cuban Laurel, Cherry of the Rio Grande, and Painted and Golden Bamboo. The microclimate will incorporate some hidden gems such as reading corners; a Pergola Garden, an interpretive garden featuring vegetation from a host of Caribbean islands and a Sculpture garden. Irrigation and drainage systems will be incorporated, to allow the ship to manage the microclimate. Other features include a full-scale and highly-ornate merry-go-round and an onboard horticulturalist who will be available to answer passenger questions and will give classes in how to recreate the Central Park garden at home.
