Queen Mary 2’s Greenock visit on tour of Britian

Cunard Lines Queen Mary 2 is one of the largest cruise ships ever built – and as part of her fifth birthday celebrations she made her first ever visit to Greenock, Inverclyde for a whistle-stop berthing. She arrived on 19th October at eight in the morning, moored up at Ocean Terminal, and left again at six in the evening – during the time she was there, thousands of people can to see her from the public viewing area and a firework display that supported her departure. It was a big deal for Greenock, because Queen Mary 2 is a big deal! She’s:

1,132ft-long with 13 deck. She has more than 150,000 horsepower and can actually travel faster backwards than forwards. During an average transatlantic crossing, her cruise passengers will consume 1,500lbs of lobster, more than 5,000lbs of beef, 1,000lbs of lamb and 1,200lbs of strawberries.
