Last week Saga Ruby bumped into a bollarded pier in New York harbour, leaving her with damage to her stern plate that required repairs. Now the company has announced that as a result of those repairs, she’ll start her next cruise, which is a sixteen night tour of the Med, two day’s later than scheduled.
Saga Ruby's will be sailing for Southampton, as planned, but will leave on 20th October at 15:00 rather than the planned departure of 17:00 on 18th October. The company also says that everybody who had booked for the cruise has been notified of the change and that Saga Holidays, the parent company, will pay for any necessary changes to travel plans. Because of all this disruption, the cruise will also be a day shorter than planned, meaning that it finishes a day later than scheduled, rather than two days – and all passengers will receive an onboard credit that is equivalent to one day’s cruise fare. That’s going to vary depending on the type of cabin the passenger in question has booked.Saga Ruby’s subsequent cruise, a 13-night trip to the Canary Islands, will also leave one day later than planned on 4th November rather than 3rd and again, passengers will lose one day of the scheduled voyage and will receive a days onboard credit to compensate them for this.£693 OUTSIDE
