Royal Caribbean Cruise Line has announced a very special inaugural fundraiser as part of the launch programme for the long awaited, and world’s biggest cruise liner, Oasis of the Seas.
There will be a charity fundraising event during the launch and naming ceremonies to raise fund for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Departing from Port Everglades Cruise Terminal in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA on November 30th 2009, Oasis of the Seas will offer a thousand staterooms on board to support the charity which helps children suffering from life-threatening illnesses. The ship will then travel to Labadee on the northern coast of Haiti. This is a private resort leased to Royal Caribbean International. It is completely tourist-oriented, and is guarded by a private security force, being fenced off from the surrounding area, and blocked off from the remainder of Haiti by impenetrable mountains – essentially, it’s Royal Cribbean’s private beach destination. Royal Caribbean cruise line has, since 2000, hosted over 1,300 children who dreamt of going on a cruise. The formal launch of Oasis of the Seas will take place in December. She will be able to take 5,400 cruise passengers in 2,700 staterooms. Her sixteen decks contain everything you can imagine from a roundabout to a shopping mall and a zipline.Date: 18 Aug 2024
