Pair arrested after cocaine seized on Black Watch

A man and woman have been detained by UK Border Agency officers on suspicion of drug smuggling.

The man aged 23 and woman aged 20, are now being questioned by investigators. They were held as the man disembarked the Black Watch liner at Southampton docks. HM Revenue and Customs say that a bag cocaine with an estimated street value of £70,000 was seized from a male passenger. The Black Watch is a Fred Olsen liner, carrying 804 passengers and is going into dry dock for a major refurbishment programme next month. It’s not yet clear if the man is a crew member or a cruise passenger as the ship had docked at Southampton at the end of a cruise and was disbursing both passengers and crew.
