Silver Spirit world cruise

In 2011 Silversea’s newest cruise ship, Silver Spirit will make her first ever full World Cruise. The voyage has been called ‘Spirit of Discovery’ and it starts in Los Angeles on 19th January 2011 when she will start a 119 day cruise that visits 60 ports and destinations in 25 countries. For 11 of these visits there will be overnight port stops to allow a deeper appreciation of the destination.

There will be four complimentary World Cruise Events for passengers who sign up for the complete 119-day itinerary – these customised events will give cruise passengers a chance to learn more of the history and culture of the destinatins, for example sampling some of Australia’s premier wines at the original Penfolds winery, Magill Estate, and the National Wine Centre in Adelaide or in Bangkok they can enjoy a Thai-themed gala dinner accompanied by an overnight stay in the exclusive Krungthep Wing of the five-star Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok. And in Barcelona a real treat is in store: a private opening of Barcelona’s renowned Picasso Museum, giving the opportunity to browse the treasures within without being part of the usual crowded tourist mass.

The ship herself is themed around a 1930s Art Deco-inspired environment and the world cruise offers a whole range of goodies to passengers taking the entire trip such as an overnight stay on January 19th onboard the ship, to enjoy a Bon Voyage Gala cocktail reception and dinner, there will be eight Silversea Experiences ashore (one per voyage segment) and a baggage handling service between each passengers home and ship’s embarkation and debarkation in Los Angeles and Southampton as well as a $2,000 onboard Spending Credit (per double-occupancy suite). Fares start at £39,218 per person, based on double occupancy. The cruise ends in Southampton on 19th May.
