Silver Spirit new Spa

The 540-passenger Silver Spirit first set sail on 23rd December 2009 from Barcelona on her 11-day maiden voyage to Lisbon.

On board is a remarkable 8,300-square-foot spa and wellness area which offers a ‘medi-spa’ facility that moves beyond the normal beauty therapy to include a range of treatments administered by doctors and specialists such wrinkle-removing Botox and the dermal fillers Restylane and Perlane to offer a younger appearance. There is also the Silversea Oriental Medicine Programme offering such complementary medical services as acupuncture to aid weight loss, relieve stress and manage pain and a Chinese Herbal Medicine option. There are also more classic features such as the Silver Spirit Spa featuring a beauty salon, a fitness centre, two sauna rooms and two steam rooms and nine spa treatment rooms.

A new feature is the Thermal Suite furnished with heated lounge chairs and connecting to the hammam (Turkish bath) room, it allows passengers to enjoy a private hammam which includes an Arabian body scrub performed by a therapist. Then there are more innovative treatments such as the ‘do-it-yourself’ scrub bar which is a bit like an ice-cream parlour for exfoliators – allowing people to select their own blend of scrub ingredients on a mix and match basis! Or there’s the Bamboo Massage in which bamboo shoots soaked in essential oil are used or the Thai Herbal Poultice Massage that incorporates scented heated herbal poultices. There are also organized group fitness classes and seminars in the spa which are free to passengers.

Silver Spirit is currently undertaking a 16-day crossing from Lisbon to Fort Lauderdale, where she will be christened.
