Two more new cruise ships for 2010

The Seabourn Sojourn launches in June, and she’s expected to do great things – the company has claimed that ‘six star’ Seabourn Sojourn will ‘turn the world of luxury cruising upside down’!

Given that Seabourn already offer all-suite accommodation and a butler for every suite, we can expect to see new levels of luxury and personal service being offered on their newest ship. We already know there will be granite bathrooms with separate tubs and showers and that the 450 passengers will all enjoy 24-hour room service. Perhaps one of the most fascinating innovations is the marina that is built into the stern of the ship to allow guests to experience a range of water-based activities from the simplest, such as swimming, through to snorkelling and windsurfing while still in the comfort and safety of the cruise liner.

Nieuw Amsterdam is Holland America’s summer arrival, being launched on Independence Day, 4th July, in the USA. She will carry 2,104 passengers and is expected to pick up all the glamour that was associated with her predecessor, the old Nieuw Amsterdam, to make her five-star offering an up-to-date experience. We know there’s going to be a premium wine-tasting lounge with experts on hand to guide passengers through the vintages and advise on purchases to enjoy with a meal or take home, and there’s also the Greenhouse Spa and Salon, which will combine a green space with the best in on-board beauty. And of course, the signature of the line is the Culinary Arts Centre, where experts cook demonstration meals and teach small classes in state-of-the-art kitchens so guests can learn how to cook like Michelin starred chefs at home.
