Legend of the Seas to Mediterranean

With Legend of the Seas, Royal Caribbean really upped its game in terms of cabin size from all of their previous vessels. But the entire ship really is a quantum leap in more ways than just one.

Top of the bill for me was a beautiful, adults' only, glass walled solarium, complete with a large pool and hot tubs, a pool bar and, overhead, a sliding glass roof. Padded loungers flanking the edges made this a beautiful, restful retreat after a hard days' touring ashore.

There is a well thought out, stylishly executed atrium lobby that acts as a kind of maritime crossroads; it functions as a focal point for shopping, people watching, or just relaxing over a drink.

At the base of the funnel, the glass walled Viking Crown lounge offers wonderful views from fourteen floors up, and doubles up as a fun, full on late night disco. There's a good sized casino and the wonderful Schooner Bar for piano music. In terms of entertainment, Legend of the Seas covers all the bases

On the outdoor activities front, there's a full, miniature eighteen hole golfing green, and a dizzying rock climbing fall located on the back of the funnel. Joggers can run on a specially laid out track, and then revitalise in the spa.

Food wise, the main, twin level dining room is a stunning chamber, with floor to ceiling windows on both levels that flood the room with light, as well as the main buffet, open for all main meals. You can also order room service in your room. And, if you enjoy quality time on your balcony, consider one of the larger, aft facing balcony rooms that offer fantastic views out over the stern.

Legend of the Seas is lavish, immaculate and spectacular. Like all Royal Caribbean ships, this is a great choice for families, with children's activities arranged for different age groups, from toddlers through to teenagers. A great choice for those wanting fun in the sun in a stylish, safe environment at what remains a decent price point.
