Norwegian Escape to Caribbean

Currently the newest ship in the Norwegian fleet, Norwegian Escape runs out of Miami on seven night cruises to the eastern Caribbean year round.

This ship is an improvement on the previous 'Breakaway class' of ship. You'll find an expanded Waterfront area, a succession of bars and eateries that spill from the inside onto a series of outdoor promenades. This area-collectively known as 678 Ocean Plaza- buzzes by day and night when the ship is at sea.

This ship- the ultimate exemplar of the company's 'Freestyle Dining' concept- allows passengers to dine where, when and with whoever they want. There's a huge mixture of free and for-fee dining venues (leaning relentlessly toward the latter on this ship) that offers everything from casual snacking to fine French cuisine, via Latin, Italian and even a Brazilian steak house. It's no exaggeration to say that you can almost literally eat your wat around the world.

Norwegian Escape has a mind boggling range of accommodations, from small, perfectly primped insides to interconnecting staterooms that can house extended families with relative ease.  The Haven complex represent a 'ship within a ship' concept; effectively, a gated community with many of the largest and most opulent suites on the ship, with a private deck and pool area and dedicated restaurant.

There are also some eighty two dedicated inside cabins, known as studios, especially for solo travellers. While these do represent a great option, be aware that solo travellers can sometimes get a better deal by booking an inside, twin bedded cabin and paying the solo supplement. You also get more floor space than in the studios, too.

As usual, Norwegian sets the pace in terms of entertainment. There are some sizzling production shows in the forward facing Escape Theatre, as well as show stopping jazz revues and, needless to say, a huge casino.

While the Norwegian Escape is tremendous fun, be aware that there are many venues designed simply to generate as much on board spending as possible. The ship is a highly styled, well served and fed floating playground, offering something for all tastes and ages, but at a price.
